This romantic Victorian cameo was released from my personal collection, carved from shell and set in solid 9ct gold.
Shell cameos were usually carved out of Black Helmet or the pink and white of a Queen Conch. A good way to access a cameo's artistry is to look at it with a magnifying glass, observing the finer details and smooth flowing lines. Hold the cameo up to the light, enjoy the translucency of the shell and examine for possible cracks
This romantic cherub is now sold, I like to think this ring found the caretaker and hope it will bring her much happiness. She wanted her charity portion to go to Jelly's Place, a non for profit, no kill, animal rescue in San Pablo CA https://jellysplace.org/
She shared with me that they do a lot of work with taking care of animals that belong to the homeless when they cannot afford to do so. This is a small grass roots animal rescue so every donated dollar counts. I shared a little snapshot of some of the animals they have rescued, you can read more about their work and how to support them at Jelly's place.org
