This Flemish heart is crowned with a torch and quiver crossing each other, there is a bow that is placed horizontally and it is all held together in place with a laurel. The ends pointing up represent St Andrew's cross and the laurel refers to the triumph of love! This crowned heart represents the heart of Maria in a rosary.
During the 18th and 19th century the Flemish people openly displayed a deep devotion to Maria, which spurred the popularity of these hearts, these gorgeous items were also given to mothers on Mother's Day.
